How Does Plasma Cutting Machine works

We are talking about here ” How does a Plasma cutter work ” . Plasma cutting work by sending an electric arc through a gas passing through a narrowed & constricted opening. The Gas can be air nitrogen and oxygen. This elevates the temperature of the gas so much that it enters the fourth state of matter. We are all familiar with the first three: solid, liquid and gas. Basically the Scientists call this additional state plasma. which metal being cut is important and part of the circuit, the electrical conductivity of the plasma causes the arc to move the work.

The gas goes through the restricted the opening (nozzle), squeezing it at rapidly, like air passing through the venturi in a carburetor.

This high-speed gas cuts through the molten metal. If we seen the gas is also directed around the perimeter of the cutting area to shield the cut and So it gives result with good finishing.

 

According to today’s growing technology  many of today’s latest and advanced plasma cutters,  between the electrode and nozzle a pilot arc is used which ionize the gas and initially generate the plasma before the arc transfers.

 

Various methods and strategies have been used which are contacting the tip of the torch to create a spark, and using a high-frequency starting circuit which we also call a spark plug. These latter two methods is not compatible with CNC (automatic) cutting.
